Halloween Party hoppin...

Yeah - we were so popular that we had multiple invitations to Halloween parties.... and by multiple I mean 2. We are not that much into the Atlanta scene.. yet...

PARTY #1 Sonal and Russ (and a bun in the oven that we found out that night - which meant more cocktails for me! Sorry Sonal...)

Count them two - yes TWO Jack Sparrows showed up at this party - Russ and Jorge! But after much arguing over where all the rum had gone, they put down their swords and drank together.
Here is Jack Sparrow and his wench (the word is WENCH Heather, not pirate whore thank you!!!).

Funny thing happened on the elevator to the party - Guy gets in elevator with us..

Guy "So you going to a costume party?"

Jack Sparrow " Uh NO, we really are pirates - our ship is parked outside!"

Guy " Oh huh - well maybe I'll dress up for a party next year... " and then he gets off with his Wendy's to-go bag and soda....

PARTY #2 Suz and Keith

Suz was a great Bellatrix Lestrange and Keith was a Villan!!

But the hit of the party for Jorge was this gal who was dressed for Dia de los Muertos - her costume was fab! As were many at that party - very original!!

With the fam. in Mississippi

Just some photos from my recent trip to Mississippi. It was my brother-in-law's birthday celebration and I had fun carving pumpkins with my nephews. Ohh and my dad let me dig a hole with the back-hoe - well he let me try for about 5 min. then he decided my technique was not stellar.
Are they such cutie pies??????

He's enjoying his momma's banana caramel cake - yumm!!!

So Crafty!

Sometimes you just need to be crafty! Its too bad that most people pass by the craft section or have never set foot into Joann or Michaels. Here are some latest projects to inspire you - so go get craftin'!!
This is a photo of a key chain that I made for mom.

Some Holiday inspired earrings.

CANCER SUCKS!

YEAH - I said it... cancer sucks! Mom was diagnosed January 2008 with ovarian cancer. And let me tell you, when the doctor says the C-word - its heavy (to use a term from Back to the Future...) As the shit hit the fan big time last year... well lets just say that some people got cut from the team and are no longer around. You really learn a lot about yourself and your friends when you are put in a situation like this.

Cancer is a very selfish disease that can alienate you from many people, and this is the time when you know who your real friends are. Those are the ones who sit with you all night long in the hospital and that 'visitation hours' do not apply to. They come at a moments notice when you are puking all over your kitchen and will bury your pets for you.

My mom is very blessed to have several extraordinary friends and family members who have helped her since January of '08 and are still wonderfully supportive as she is going through chemo again right now. The angel (the teal ribbon is for ovarian cancer) represents all those who have helped mom (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE) - and from the bottom of my heart I thank you for being a part of this journey.

Shampoo - where for art thou shampoo?

Is anyone else terribly confused when going into Wal-Mart now (besides me???) The shampoo is now where the ladies sports clothing was and the dog food is where the shoes were. There was something comforting about knowing when you went into Wal-Mart - no matter how old, if it had a mega-grocery section or not, the same format of clothing next to the frozen food section just made sense.

But now they have gone all high tech and I'm sure spent millions on researching the new designs and layouts. It is quite fun to mill about with the other confused, lost souls who can't find the bread to save their lives (oh by the way - its where the baby section was...)

The kids...

Ok, so this is my first attempt to write a blog... So what better subject to start out with than my fur kids. Logan is on the right and Carly is on the left in this picture, sitting in their favorite spot in the townhouse. They are at the front window where they can terrorize the neighborhood cats and dogs who foolishly venture too close to the yard. As these creatures are my only frame of reference to child rearing, I am quite able to give advice to my friends who have 'real' kids about potty training, teething, sibling rivalry, bathing and nail clipping.
(like I mentioned before, as this is my first post I will keep it short and sweet, mostly so I can make sure I don't screw anything up...)
